John and I spent this past week back on the east coast in Rochester, Buffalo, and Geneseo. We started off the week with John’s family, celebrating our engagement on Sunday with a nice family dinner. Of course, dinner cooked by John’s mom was delicious, and it was great to see everyone.
We hadn’t been back to Western New York since leaving over a year and a half ago, so we hit up some of the spots we’d been missing, one of which was Wegmans. John was elated to indulge in a Wegmans sub, which we ate canal-side until it started raining.
Speaking of rain, John and I were joking that the two weeks we spent on the east coast this year it rained more than it has the entire year and a half we have lived in San Diego! It rained nearly every day we were in New Jersey last month, and similarly this trip, it rained every single day at least once! It was certainly different being woken up at night by thunder!
On Thursday, after spending an awesome week with John’s family and seeing some of our Rochester friends, John and I headed up to Buffalo for one night. It was fun and weird being back. We checked out a new place along the water called Liberty Hound for dinner, which was delicious, and ended the night at one of our old hang out spots, Pearl Street. It was great to see our friends that are still in Buffalo – huge shout out to Nikki, Kayla, Mina, Steve, and Kevin, for coming out to see us.
Friday morning John and I headed off to Geneseo to attend John’s best friend’s wedding, in which he was the best man. We had a lovely time at the rehearsal dinner on Friday, and it was great to see Matt and Meredith getting ready for their big day!
Saturday was their ceremony and reception, which was absolutely gorgeous. John and I were blown away by how cute everything was, and we were taking notes the whole time for our wedding next year! From their personalized ceremony to DIY decor, everything was perfect. John’s best man speech was a huge hit, too! It was wonderful to be able to witness their love first hand as they tied the knot.
Sunday was a busy day of travel as John and I made our way back to San Diego. We are so excited to be back, we definitely missed the perfect SoCal weather! We’re back to work and life, but are excited for this upcoming weekend, as one of our best friends Graig is coming to visit! We’ve got a super fun line-up of activities planned, so check back next week to read all about it!
