This past weekend, John and I did something I’ve been wanting to do for a while – we headed up to North County to check out the Carlsbad Flower Fields!  Although we’ve been super busy, we know how important it is to take the time to do fun things and live it up!

Saturday we were up bright and early for a course at the local community college called “Inventions 101”.  We really enjoyed it and found it to be both informative and interesting, so it was super awesome that we were able to take advantage of the class!  Once it was over in the afternoon, though, we were pumped and ready to head up to North County to see the flowers!

We enjoyed the short drive up the coast, and arrived at the flower fields with plenty of time to explore before it closed at 6:00.  Despite it’s (what we thought to be) slightly overpriced entry fee of $12 per person, the flowers were truly unbelievable.  I have never seen anything quite like it!  John and I spent nearly two hours traipsing through the different flower fields.  It was so incredibly beautiful, I was pretty much giddy!

Once we’d had our fill of the flowers, and the park started to close down, John and I headed over to a local seafood restaurants for the best crab legs we’ve ever had!  I’d been jonesing for some crab legs, and it far exceeded my expectations.  While eating, John and I determined that it had been since Buffalo at Joe’s Crab Shack that we last indulged in crab legs, (how have we not had them in San Diego yet?!), but these were far better than Joe’s!  They didn’t even compare!  We left stuffed to the gills of delicious crab, and I had a giant smile on my face that I was able to eat them!

Overall, Saturday was a wonderful day.  We have both been incredibly busy, so we planned our date day far enough in advance that we had something to look forward to.  It got us through our busy week leading up to it, that’s for sure!  It’s important that no matter how busy you get, you take breaks to enjoy the moments life blesses you with!
